Welcome to Suko’s Stupid Super Challenges!

What is SSC? It’s a continuing monthly event that will test your bemani skills and force you to compete in ways you never have before!

The rules are simple:
- At the beginning of each month there will be a challenge issued.
- You will have until the last day of the month to submit your best score for the challenge.
- The top three scores will be awarded points.
- Points will be accumulated throughout the year. At the end of each quarter, points will be totaled and VIPs will be chosen based off their scores. There will also be Annual VIPs based off totals achieved throughout the year. (Physical awards are a definite possibility. Stay tuned!)
- Score submissions to SSC can be made via a photo or video that legibly shows the score being submitted. Post all scores in this thread by the deadline.

FAQs:
Important answers to common questions will be collected here as they’re answered.

Q: Can I make a suggestion for a monthly challenge?
A: Sure! But depending on the challenge you propose, you may not be qualified to participate that month’s event in order to make it fair and balanced for all players.

Q: I got this great score, but I didn’t take a picture in time. Is it still a viable score?
A: In most cases, no. You know what they say, “Pix or it didn’t happen”. However, if you have a lot of trusted witnesses that saw your score, shoot me a PM and we'll discuss it.

Q: Aw man! I got a kick ass score on that song a few months back! Can I submit it for this month’s challenge?
A: Nope. Only scores obtained during the month of the challenge will be accepted.

Q: I have this awesome idea on how to set some mods so I can get way more points than the other players, can I do that?
A: Generally, if limitations aren't specified, then you're free to apply whatever mods you want. However, if the mods will unbalance the challenge, I request that you PM me so I can make an amendment. If you don't, I might be forced to disqualify scores or restart the challenge due to an exploit.

Q: I got my best score for this challenge at 11:59 pm on the 31st! Can I still submit my scores!?
A: Sure. If you can submit pictures/videos of your scores by Noon on the following day, I'll still let it count.

Alright, for the first SSC I’m going to try and make it as open to as many people as possible. This challenge should be compatible on DDR Extreme, SN, or SN2. Also, I know that we're already 10 days into February, and we kind of missed January, but whatever!

February’s Challenge:

1st Stage: B4U
Difficulty: Hard/Heavy
Mods: Boost + Hidden

2nd Stage: Paranoia
Difficulty: Standard/Medium
Mods: Boost + Hidden

3rd Stage: Kind Lady
Difficulty: Hard/Heavy
Mods: Boost + Hidden

Objective: Complete all three songs as a set and obtain the highest number of greats possible.

Specifics for this challenge: Think of it like a Nonstop or Oni mode game. This challenge must be done as a set. You cannot pick and choose your scores from various attempts at individual songs. Make sure to take a photo of your score on each song/stage and then take a score at the end of the set. I need this so that I can verify that the mods were enabled and so I can 'add up’ your individual song scores and verify that they were all done in the same set.

No other judgments but GREATS will be counted. The highest number wins!

Ew great attack! I'm gonna lose to some of you veterans >.< By 'Hidden" do you mean "Dark" or "fade out" or what again? Maybe I'm just rusty on my terminology.

Hey also, speaking of monthly DDR challenges, what happened to the monthly Oni and/or Challenge courses? I finally got my phone to be able to upload pics! Needs more dance games!

Hidden is the mod that makes the arrows disappear about half-way to to the targets. I believe it's still called hidden on all versions of DDR. In ITG it might be called Dark Fade Out, but ITG's timing window for greats are WAY bigger than DDRs, so I can't accept that for this challenge. However, this challenge should be doable on the SN2 at Acme, so give it a shot!

Boost is the mod that accelerates the arrow so it speeds up as it approaches the targets. Again, this should be on all mixes from Extreme - SN2. Let me know if it's not and I might make some changes to the challenge.

EDIT: I might participate in these challenges, too. However, I'm not eligible to win or place in any rank. I'm just gonna do it for kicks.

I might do this when I head to acme.  Question: speed mods fair game or not?

I wish dance games were closer to me heh, nearest is gameworks which is 20 miles plus a ferry ride, or... probably tower lanes, 45 miles away.  Maybe evergreen, which is also 20 miles and a ferry ride.

Question: speed mods fair game or not?
If I don't specify it, it's fair game. But keep this in mind:

Oh I didn't see the additional rules up there, oops.
Speed mods aren't really exploits but at least for me it makes hidden way easier.  Man I think I'm gonna go to acme now because I just want to play, haha

Go to Dorky's instead, it's a little closer to where you're coming from. $.50 per game and pads are in good condition.

Thanks for making it in by the deadline Dr. Z.

I lost track of what day it was. I didn't realize it was the end of the month already!?

Since this was the first event, I'm going to make a special exception and give everyone the chance to submit scores up to Sunday at 11:59pm. I don't know if anyone even cares or not, but I'm going to try and give everyone another weekend to produce some scores.

So you have until the end of Sunday. Dr. Z, feel free to resubmit another score if you improve over this one by then.

February's Results:
By default, Dr. Z is the winner this month. Since he was the only one to submit a score, there is no one to receive points for 2nd or 3rd place.

I'm hoping to get a larger turnout for March's challenge. This one is pretty straight forward, but does require an ITG2 machine to participate. I assume most people will be able to get access to one (you do have nearly an entire month), so please don't forget to post your scores!

March's Challenge:

Objective: Complete the Driven Marathon Course on the NORMAL difficulty with the highest score possible.

Specifics for this challenge: Submit a screenshot or video showing your highest score on this course, achieved between now and the end of the month.

I'll probably do the Driven challenge this weekend. I'm pretty good at reading mods, so I might actually fair ok.

Tempted to post a Shamrock Shebang score on Saturday too  =P

Just a reminder that it's already 1/2 way through the month. Don't forget to try out this challenge the next time you play ITG!

I feel I'm analogues to the guy in the movie who keeps using the defibrillators on a patient way past the point they should be.

Just a friendly reminder that you only have one and a half weekends left before March's challenge is over. If you plan on participating, please make sure to get the screenshots in by the deadline.

I played today and got something like .25%.  Allan has the picture if you guys care about evidence, but there is really no reason for me to lie about failing less than a percent in. Grin

I am hoping to try again and actually pass before the deadline!!

lol. I guess I forget how hard mods can be for some people. Perhaps I should've made the challenge "Getting Started" instead.

And it looks like Laura is already trying to cheat. The image clearly proves you got .02% less than what you claimed in your previous post!
