Take me Back has been done a LOT. Is this a remixed version at least?

I found this song hidden in the ITG3 theme's folder.

Sunshine (ITG3 Perfect Ending Remix)

It's been a tradition to use the ending credit music in the next iteration of ITG. Liquid Moon in ITG1 > Playable chart in ITG2. Who from ITG2 > Playable Chart in ITG3. And since this is a hidden song. It's not stepping directly on the toes of the ITG 3 guys (if they're even still around)

I actually have a simfile for Open the Door Cheesy
I'm not sure you've played it or not.

There's been a few Oscillator X songs that haven't been done already that are new (like a year old and younger)

Singularity
The Naughty Song (I made it for SPERGIN1)
Believe in You (also made a sim for this)
Robot World

Take Me Back has totally been done a lot, and a few of the charts are even pretty decent (I've played a few that were horrible, but that's besides the point). However, of a roughly 70 song project, give or take (hopefully give) I see nothing wrong in having a few of the songs be familiar to people as long as they have not appeared in ITG 1, 2, 3, Rebirth, or Rebirth 2. Obviously we want the vast majority to be new songs or at least not songs with famous steps yet, but a few famous tracks might possibly draw attention, and attention isn't a bad thing  =).

Unless we remix something ourselves (which is a possibility btw to make the "mandatory" Disconnected more listenable) or get a totally underground song, there is a decent chance that someone has stepped it before. Chromatic Blitz and 8-Bit Trip appeared in Tachyon Alpha before they appeared in Rebirth and Rebirth 2 respectively. This doesn't mean that I want to be lazy and just make a compilation of edits and call it ITG, but I feel Take Me Back specifically is not a bad choice. In my opinion, we are running out of good Kyle Ward songs that haven't been stepped in an official or semi-official ITG pack, and despite the fact that Take Me Back is very popular, it was never used in one of the packs.

This also somewhat uses the logic about the ending credit music, though in this case not exactly the ending credits. I forgot what screen it is, but one of ITG 1's screens plays Summer in the background. ITG2 plays Take Me Back. Summer was eventually used in ITG Rebirth despite Speedy Mix being used as a boss song in ITG2. However, if I here enough people strongly opposed to the idea or just people totally sick of Take Me Back by now, I will not include it.

On a different note, I really like that remix of Sunshine. I find it funny that the background in the video is the art for Sunshine - Playmaker when it's a remix of Triple J's, but whatevs. I wish it was a few seconds longer, but 96 seconds still will work. That's about as long as Charly or, dare I mention it, ReaF. The rhythms are quite speedy and could easily be a hard 10 to easy 11 on expert depending on the stepper.

Cool beans! I would love to see your Open the Door simfile. I think that song would be a good change of pace for the Kid Whatever songs that have been featured in the ITG games as it's quite lively, though all of them are pretty fun and zany. I am somewhat curious about the Oscillator X songs, the artist is hit or miss with me. Tracks like Rock Robotic...well...rock, but some of his I'm not as big of a fan. I'll give them a listen.

Yeah, I just grabbed the quickest image I could. In hindsight, I regret choosing that over a picture of a sunrise or something, but OH WELLZ! =D

Here's a very early beta on the (arguably) 3 most important charts for my rendition of Take Me Back. Ignore the graphics, they're from the original file and obviously we can't use those. This is just to give an idea of what I consider "official feeling" because I know how vague of a term that is.

Though, if we ever decided to step a song by Nightmare, well, official feeling would be a bunch of tempo gimmicks....so heh, take everything with a grain of salt  =)

If you're against using the song, feel free to tell me. While I would like to use it, obviously nothing is set in stone. Nothing. Scott expressed valid concerns about how much it's done, so feel free to share if you too have opinions on the matter

Yeah from what I can tell most of Kyle's songs have been stepped at this point.
It's not that he doesn't make music (quite the opposite actually) It's that
most of what is made is now is from Oscillator X (which is two people, Kyle Ward and John Mendenhall)

So it would mostly be their stuff if you aren't trying to rehash older stuff.

The great thing about me is that I am not a guy who keeps on the forefront of the music scene. As such, I might be suggesting songs that are popular, old, overplayed, or that just plain suck to most people.

That being said, please remember that every dance game has it's lemons, and I think they need them to give each mix it's own personality. Be In My Paradise for DDR Extreme and Not Worth the Paper in ITG come to mind.

Anyways, I guess what I'm asking is simple; don't make fun of my music selections. I'm not suggesting them for their popularity, I'm suggesting them because I envision some fun stepcharts that could be made for them. (After all, I <3 Owl City)

Here we go:

Starships by Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj - Starships

I heard this on the radio this morning and I think that with a proper edit/cut to condesne this song down to it's "good parts" could make this a lot of fun. For some reason, I imagine this is what Smile.DK would be like if they tried to be Captain Jack. Note: They do make a radio edit version without the bad words.

Organ Donor by DJ Shadow
DJ Shadow - Organ Donor

I know...really old electronica here, but this is such a classic and really, can't you just imagine a 11 or 12 to this song, matching note for note with steps? I can!

The Sailor Song by ToyBox
Toy-Box - The Sailor Song (Official)

I admit, this reminds me more of DDR than ITG. But damn, just watch that video! Also, this song really reminds me of an E-rotic / Crispy song. Also, the video has muppets...what better reason do you need?

Need moar Toybox!
SuperMan by ToyBox
Toy-Box - Super Duper Man

Come one, imagine the fun steps this could have. I see something similar to "The Game" or "Bananna Bay" steps with this one. And no, I'm not gay.........I swear.

Ancient Groover (Remix) by SoundTeMP (Ragnarok Online)
Lix - Ancient Groover-Falsic Revival Mix.wmv

I see this as a high-intensity chart that has some step similarities to most Banzai songs from ITG1/2, but at more of an 11 to 12 difficulty. I've actually got this song synced, cut, and ready to be stepped on my PC...I just haven't gotten around to writing it yet.

I got some other suggestions, but I don't have their names in front of me at the moment, so it'll have to wait until later.

Suko, I think I'm old if you are, because you always pick the songs I would.  Also, makes me feel less guilty for liking Starships by Nicki Minaj.  I love doing the rap at karaoke. Tongue

Edit: BTW, I suck at making charts, but I would happily contribute 2-3 foot Easy charts if that's too tedious for you guys who actually know how to make charts. Smiley

You could probably make some decent Standard charts. Then it's pretty easy to take that and reduce all notes to 1/4 notes and remove jumps to get a simple easy chart with no extra effort. =D

Ooh, some nice traffic here! Suko, you actually 100% are suggesting (imo) they right stuff. I DO NOT want every single song to be 0 to 3 years old trance believe it or not. I definitely want some of the sound track to be new trance and I want some from ITG artists to give it an "ITG feel", but why does DDR get to have all the fun with licenses? Well, seeing that no money is involved, they don't  =).

While I am not the biggest fan of Starships, I can look the other way because I'm pretty sure a lot of you are not the biggest fan of Justin Timberlake, and yet I stepped one of his songs for S.P.E.R.G.I.N. Variety is the spice of life.

Also, I'm DEFINITELY going to put a track from Einhander into the mix. For freakin' Serious. And I am heavily leaning towards mixing my own version of Disconnected as opposed to hashing an old one that sounds bad. That way I can make it much more musical while still putting in "the number you have reached has been disconnected". Worry not, I'm a composer and Have Logic Pro 9.

I'm going to be putting the vast majority of suggestions into the tentative song list into the first post.  It is MUCH better to have too many songs and cut it down to a reasonable amount than scramble to get to a quota. I'm going to have to put my pride away for a couple songs and I'm totally prepared because I logically realize that not everyone has my taste in music, though I obviously will be putting a few suggestions of my own  =P

Here's another one I would LOVE to make a stepchart for. Imagine the purple notes!

Kim Leoni - Emergency (Nightcore Mix)

Edit: er, ignore the borderline hentai image. I didn't make it. >.>

I lub me Sarina Paris, so here's another one:
Sarina Paris - You

I imagine it having some awesome double-tap/gallop-like steps.

Yeah, it's a problem I have. I prep twice as many stepcharts as I ever get around to stepping. Seriously, I have like 5 songs right now without steps, but they're synced, cut, etc.

Like I stated before, not every song in the tentative song list is going to make it. We while amass roughly twice of what we're actually going to use and then vote on the roughly 70 songs that we're actually going to use. Everyone has the power to suggest and vote! PNW democracy! If there's a song on the list you HATE, make it known, but if most want it it might stay. I'm trying to be fair to everyone while maintaining a broad spectrum. I'm also intentionally putting in some poppy and or famous tracks to draw people in. Not EVERY track will be like this, and if you want something more accentuated in the pack, then suggest it! So far I like how things are shaping up, but we probably need to start snagging a few "ITG artists", which I know is a vague term.

Yum yum music

Other songs you might want to consider that would all need to be seriously cut down:

This is a license from Technika 3 (as opposed to an original), so it should be good for your pack.
[DJMAX TECHNIKA3: CREW CHALLENGE] Just for Today / J Minus

I could see this being cut down to a reasonable 10.
Hybrid - Formula Of Fear

SGX - Die Anyway

Crispy - Secret

Crispy - Secret

Crispy has been a feature of many ITG packs, so it'd be cool to bring them back.  I like this song of theirs the most of the ones that have not been featured in 1-Rebirth2. Smiley

Also, any chance we could get some Dr. Bombay/Dr. MacDoo/Carlito in there?  This is my favorite song of his:

Backpack Girl / Carlito (Embedding disabled, limit reached)

Carlito - Backpack Girl

28 suggested songs, 26 artists. Not bad guys, not bad!

That being said, I'm pretty sure we're not going to put both Toy-Box and both Kenichiro Fukui (Einhander) songs in there, so my choice right now on the ones we'd use from those artists are

The Sailor Song - Toy-Box
Shudder - Kenichiro Fukui

I would like to here others opinions, or even if they don't think it's necessary to cut them. Having multiple songs by the same artist isn't necessarily not allowed, but I'm trying to have as many artists and as broad of spectrum as possible because I know if nothing else, people at least want to have a say in the song selection aspect of this project  =)

Also, if we ever manage to finish this monumental project, we should all get forum badges, just saying

30 suggestions so far! WOOHOO!

As you can see, there are some returning artists, which is good, some new ones, which is great, and even some older pop hits, and hey, why should DDR get all the fun? =)

I think that we should have at least one dubstep song in the mix. I don't know a lot about dubstep and I can't tell "good" dubstep from "bad", but what I do know is that it's a new(ish) popular dance genre that doesn't get a lot of representation in ITG and I am all about appealing to everyone and making everyone have something they love. If this pack sounded exactly the same is older ITG packs, play ITG, and if this sounded exactly the same as DDR, play DDR. I'm aiming for the extremely fine line of sounding fresh yet familiar, new but not foreign, appealing to everyone and yet not stretched to thin.

Suggest everything you like, I'm not trying to deter any suggestions, I guess I'm just rambling a lot about my philosophy. I've been stoked about the participation so far with song suggestions! Keep up the great work
