Well, they remade the pads for this release.  Apparently Bemanistyle members are playtesting the build before it ships to give direct feedback...

Because Beston's DDR X was so popular.  Wink
Though it looks like they went back to the old style of pad in that image.  I wonder if that is true or if that is just stock photography of the JP machine.

Looks like Betson now has the US version in stock and ready to ship...

I'd imagine it'll start to show up in a few arcades soon.

So, is Gold Rush a pun on how Konami is mining out whatever is left in the DDR Franchise for as much money as they can get?

Re: DDR X2 (AC)

I'm hoping Konami goes to PAX, they haven't been for the past 2 years.  I don't really know why they didn't go.  The exhibitors list should be out any day now.

On the 12th of August there is supposedly going to be a press event for the PS3 DDR game coming out.  The one they showed off back at E32009.

That chart is NUTS!

Also do you guys think konami might actually show this game at PAX 2010?
Unlikely but it would be a very nice surprise.

I know we'll probably see Dance Masters and Dance Central which will be fun to try, but here's to wishful thinking that DDR X2 will be there. You never know, they kind of have a tendency to not announce things

They started testing in Europe yesterday.  ZiV put up a report...

Its the same thing as the US test, but without the pad redesign.

Re: DDR X2 (AC)

Reading more on DDR X2 here.

I don't know why, but I really like this:
Quote
-Option: RISKY

This is a new option that is only available by playing alone (either on SINGLES or DOUBLES). If you get a GOOD step rating or lower, the song will end. We considered letting the players choose the number of lifebars they get like in DrumMania, but the frequency of high combos in DDR made us make it just one. Please only use this when you're selecting a song that you're confident you can full combo!

When you turn this option on..

This brutal icon will appear in the lower left portion of the screen.

This just sounds fun and will undoubtedly lead to many OMG noob challenges at the arcade.

*Player*
You think you're awesome huh? Well lets see you pass RISKY HVAM!

*crowd*
OH SNAP!

Quote
This is actually a function that was introduced in X. While you're selecting your music, its possible to close folders immediately by pressing the up/down buttons on the cabinet.

Wow, not a bad idea. It's about time Konami started innovating again.

Quote
During gameplay, it's possible to change your speed mods by pressing the left or right button on the cabinet. It's similar to IIDX, except in these regard:

-You can only change your speed up until a few seconds after the music starts.
-If you change your speed during gameplay, it will go back to the speed you chose before you chose your first song when your song finishes.

The main use of this will be to fix your speed options when you forgot to set them properly before playing the song. (So you can't use this function to adjust your speed options after the speed-up in She is my wife...sorry!)

I understand why they limit it to the first few seconds. Can't have someone hax the slow/fast parts in songs like Sakura or A.

This made me lol:

Re: DDR X2 (AC)

Maybe it's the green, grey, and random expanding circles that remind you of the 360.  The UI screams DDR Universe to me

Upgrade kits for SNs make it possible that we might ever see the game, but it looks good in wide screen.  It's a shame to lose that.

Re: DDR X2 (AC)

The background reminds me of the Xbox 360 dashboard theme.

Also, does anyone else feel like the DDR theme has come full-circle? The new "Juke Box" style music select screen reminds me so much of the old 3rd Mix and 4th Mix machines.

I still wish they'd ditch that announcer and put something else on their.

Re: DDR X2 (AC)

They said they are going to provide upgrades for Supernova cabinets too.  While I'm not a huge fan of the pads, they are better than the X1 cabinets.  I'm also hoping alot of these places that have Supernova will upgrade.

I'll be happy if it gets local score saving too.

DDR X2 AC US test - Intro and songlist Small | Large

This DDR honestly looks so much better than the past three.
Also pads have been completely redesigned from the ground up after hearing feedback from the DDRX
Keep your hopes up!

Re: DDR X2 (AC)

Well, there's a full PCB DDR X upgrade kit so I'd imagine Konami will do something similar for X2. Even if they don't, it would probably be possible to get an upgrade kit for X and then just get the software (HDD+dongle) kit for X2.

Re: DDR X2 (AC)

I am hoping that they might offer this in kit form to upgrade an old original DDR cabinet.  That way, we know we have a useable stage, but not sure how it would all work out.

Re: DDR X2 (AC)

Yeah.  Konami should at least just sell upgrade kits without new cabinets in the US.  The Asian version of X2 came out on the same day as the Japanese version, so hopefully down the line some arcades can just pick up that version for cheap.

Or I hope we see a decent console release of all these songs...

Re: DDR X2 (AC)

I've got to admit that this is looking better than I had hoped. Unfortunately, after the crappy SuperNova cabinet and the atrocious X cabinets here in the US, I think DDR X2 is going to have to pull a miracle if it's going to succeed. That songslist is epic though, and if it had SO DEEP and Twilight Zone, I dare say I'd be in heaven.
