I'm wondering if anyone can suggest some "classic" stepcharts written ~2003 - 2007. I didn't really get into custom songs until a year or so ago, so my knowledge of the older stuff is quite limited. From what I've scene from some of the older charts I do have (Max 150, MAX Forever, AFTER ME) I think that I could really enjoy charts written in this time period. Most of you know my play style, so please don't suggest songs with a difficulty of 13+, unless they have other charts that aren't so difficult. I really prefer songs that have HARD/MED/EASY charts, but I'll take anything as long as it's awesome.

So, does anyone have any suggestions?

I would suggest picking things out from DDR Tournamix 1-4.  Not all of those charts are... well, even decent, but some of them are really good.

Hahaha you're right laura.

Scott stuff from 2003 is fishy in terms of quality, because that's when everyone was figuring it out.

Try the stepmix contests on Stepmania.com
there are some classics that came from there.

Speaking of Tournamix 2, one of my friends made the 10 foot chart to "Solid Gold" on there.  This would have been circa 2002.  Look at that chart if you get some time - looks kind of like he invented ITG years in advance Grin

Good suggestion. I see some familiar names from back-in-the-day here. I'll check some of these out and see how much fun they are.

I thought ~80% of the Stepmix files were bad, and I have a lot of simfiles from that era on my external hard drive. Most of my favorite simfiles were from that era actually...

Thanks man. That means a lot to me.

Seriously, it's my favorite chart that I've written. I <3 it.
