Jubeat Plus (iPad) & US Version: Jukebeat Released!
Jubeat Plus / Jukebeat
for iPad / iPhone
Konami released the US Version on August 10th!
US Version: Download from the US iTunes Store
Japanese Version: Download from the Japanese iTunes Store
Note: You will need a Japanese Only iTunes account, you cannot get this app with an American iTunes account. [

Song packs are 4 songs for $3.99 (US) or 450 Yen (JP).
It works amazingly well on the iPad's massive screen and replicates the feel and gameplay of the arcade cabinet surprisingly well.
If there was ever a reason to own an iPad, this would be it.
(Everyone here knows what Jubeat is right?

If you didn't see this already on Bemanistyle, the Jubeat DLC packs 1-24 are on sale this weekend for 85 Yen, instead of the normal 450 yen.
I think I ended up buying 6 more packs due to the sale.

- Re-Rave: 9 awesome songs for free.
They're free if you ignore the $2 app.
If you're comfortable with navigating a Japanese Interface (most all of us have experience with that) and a Japanese iTunes accout (the worst part) the Japanese version of Jubeat has a much better song selection.
As for "which one is better" that will always be highly influenced by personal opinion.
In any case,
Pulse
looks interesting... I haven't heard anything about it until now.

On a completely random topic, I just played Pulse and liked it better than both ReRave and Juke Beat.
Arcades may have gone away, but their culture is not gone.

that's three more than rerave!!
no but really it's very fun on an ipad. playing on an iphone is more of a novelty than anything. i'm not really sure why they bothered...i guess it's just easy to make apps universal. i think if you try it on ipad you'll find it much more playable and probably get addicted.
The iPad version was better, but still not great. A lot of the UI is broken (like being able to change the skin) and the Engrish is pretty bad. When you finish a song, the only available button is "Quit Game", but it actually just brings you back to the main menu.
Personally, I like Re-Rave a lot better for these reasons:
1) Song choice
- Jukebeat: 3 shitty songs for free, 2 of them being kind of rough for a beginner.
- Re-Rave: 9 awesome songs for free.
2) Pricing
- Jukebeat: $1.00 per song, only song packs available are $3.99 each (for 4 songs)
- Re-Rave: $0.50 per song, song packs range from $0.99 to $2.99 (for 6 songs)
3) Difficulty
- Jukebeat: Really hard. Like playing DDR on Sudden; I imagine you have to just
memorize some things in order to do them.
- Re-Rave: A really nice range of difficulty. From 1-12, there are charts for everyone.
4) UI
- Jukebeat: Broken in many places. Engrish can make it a bit hard to navigate. Not
very pretty. Huge combo numbers.
- Re-Rave: Gorgeous and well-polished. Apart from a password glitch, I'd say it's
pretty much perfect.
5) Scoring
- Jukebeat: I haven't figured it out yet. It's hard to tell how I can improve. Just hit
more of them? Does accuracy matter? How can I tell how accurate I've
been? Do I get hurt if I hit a box that's not supposed to be hit?
- Re-Rave: Crystal clear. Shows very easily whether you are late/early with the
clock system and tells you how well you did on placement. Nice easy
percentages for scoring.
I feel like I could go on and on. Both of them suck pretty hard to play on the iPhone, but when you move to the iPad2, there really is no competition. As much as I always feel that the Japanese do music games better, Re-Rave really is superior when matched up against Jukebeat. I like the idea of Jubeat, but it's hard to get into with the high difficulty level at the start and no clear idea of how to get better.

Playing Jubeat on an iPhone is comparable to playing DDR with your feet, but trying to stomp on the arrow keys on a keyboard.
The 3 songs that come free on the US version aren't the best (kinda boring Konami video game music) and their hard charts are fairly difficult, even for Jubeat standards.

Also, it only comes with 3 free songs, which is kind of disappointing.

Re: Jubeat Plus (iPad) & US Version: Jukebeat Released!
So far, I don't find Jukebeat very encouraging on the iPhone4. 1's and 2's are fairly difficult. My fingers are tiny, but they still get in the way of me seeing which squares are popping up next, which is frustrating. I find myself quickly tapping a box and then quickly moving my fingers out of the way so I can see the next one, which I've probably already missed.
It's like DDR, but you can only play on Sudden and you have to start on 7s. =/
I'll be checking it out on the iPad2 when Tom gets home, and hopefully that'll be a much more satisfying experience. Also, it only comes with 3 free songs, which is kind of disappointing.

Konami just released a US version today, with the name they gave the location tests: Jukebeat!
Link to the US App store page is in the first post.

Re: Jubeat Plus (iPad)
The one I used is down at the moment (
http://www.itunescardjapan.com/
) but when it worked I ordered the code only option and the guy emailed the code within 30 minutes of ordering, so if it comes back online it's a pretty good choice.
http://www.jbox.com/product/ITUNESCARD
is a much higher profile site but the price is a lot worse.

I still find Jubeat to be highly enjoyable, and my wife usually plays this more than I do now.
A couple new song packs were released about a month ago, and my Japanese iTunes card is slowly dwindling.

holy shit get a new phone man. 3GS is only fifty bucks!
haha, couple issues with that.
1) I'm on T-Mobile
2) I don't want to switch providers
3) I don't want a 2-year contract
4) I was given this phone, and I'd prefer to buy as few Apple Products as possible.
I'll upgrade eventually when I can get someone to give me their (less)old iPhone.

And of course, 3.2 iOS or higher.
I suppose the original iPhone wouldn't handle it very well anyway. Still want to try the iPhone version though.

Re: Jubeat Plus (iPad)
It'd almost impossible to play on an iPhone anyway. It's still 4x4 buttons with the same patterns as arcade so any 3+ (or 2 depending on the buttons) hits are pretty much impossible. I had thought they would redo it in a 3x3 layout.

There no eamuse in north America anyway.
Yeah, I had to make due with the default set of songs, which was still more than enough really. Got back to Seattle ridiculously late last night, after playing this game all night
Here is my cell phone snapshot of this beauty:
For what it's worth, Knit is in great condition and played wonderfully!
I don't own any Apple products - every time I use an iPhone I am reminded of how fat my fingers are

I don't know you skill level, but if you don't have an e-amuse card, purchase one before playing. A good 50% of the tracks in the game are e-amuse unlockables.

Though it's funny that one of the last unlocks in Knit *Sweet Rain* is one of the free songs for jubeat plus.

Well there you go.
I've only got to play it for about 7 sessions in Canada on one day. The iPad version is pretty darn great when you don't have daily access to a real cabinet.
Which is why I compared it to home version DDR :3. The novelty is off after extensive time on the real thing.
...I've never played/seen jubeat in this hemisphere though. Any idea what mix they had up there?
